The president's State of the Union address was not nearly as inspiring as the speeches he has given in the past. My husband declared him a liberal and, though I disagree, I am not excited about his spirit of compromise. The democrats will not give him credit for trying to get along. Indeed, following his address, they have filed a vote of "no confidence" in his Iraq policy. And so a man, who should have had more support from his country and party, begins to fade out of history, weakened by his own side and his own people.
Michael Savage said that liberals ought to get behind the president, even if they didn't agree with him, because it was war time, and fighting against him was traitorous. And then he proceeded to criticize him and to undermine him. Savage, you're not a liberal, but by your own definition, you're a traitor. You knew what was wrong with what you did and you did it anyway. And you weakened the presidency and helped pave the way for democrats. Shame on you.
And shame on the rest of you trendy "independent" conservatives, who, in your desire to be liked, betrayed your own party. You also are responsible for the increased power of the Democrats. So as the Democrats begin to install their programs, remember your role.
You deserve what you're getting.
